aiMinesweeper got into top 100 freeware apps

Today I got magazine which compiled the best 100 free of charge programs for Android. Japanese Journal submitted by Doplaza company (off. site http://ap.doplaza.jp/).

As you might have already guessed I've found the aiMinesweeper in top 100:

Also happy to announce that our records show that more than 1.5 million highscores among 200 unique users were submitted to Artfulbits. Thank you for the fun you shared with us. On 22.07.2010 the first places were:

• Beginner - Keith Rules All with time 1.40 sec
• Intermediate - Martin Toft with time 16.45 sec
• Expert – Cheater with time 1:25.55 sec

Bug in newest version

Due to known bug in Android OS, aiMinesweeper fails to gain write permissions to game folder. Now the only way to resolve this is complete reinstall of the game. In upcoming release we will have warning dialog telling user to do that. Have fun with aiMinesweeper.

New version released!

Hi everyone! I'm glad to announce that we've just released a new version of the best android puzzle game aiMinesweeper. We have made some useful changes:

1. Online high scores publishing, Now you can share you scores with your friends on our website http://games.artfulbits.com/. You just need is to go to the "Higscores", open menu and press Publish button as shown below.
   
2. Game saving. When you're interrupted and can't finish the game, you can save it and then resume playing in any time.
3. Skin icons removed from applications launcher.
4. User experience improved. Now you get a notifications and button highlighting for long-press actions.
5. New game timer. All timings are now in milliseconds to guarantee unique highscores.

Easy way to create skin

We are working on new way to create a skin. From now on, skin will not show up in applications launcher anymore. Installed skins will be shown in game only. If you want to remove it you have just remove as program from Settings->Application->Manage Application.

In order to make aiMinesweeper recognize your skin, you will need to set "Shared user id" in AndroidManifest.xml of to "com.artfulbits.aiminesweeper" (without quotes) and continue working with resources files.

Game tricks

I know that everyone wants to win. That's why I'm about to share couple tricks that you might not know:

1. There is no way to blow up the first cell. The map is generated after you first click.
2. If you put equal count flags near number and tap on it, the others cells around it except marked one will be opened.
3. Check the "Count Down" option in main menu to see how much time you have to get to the first place.
4. If you still can't take a first place, you may just clear the scores :)
